How To Follow a Wilderness Survival Guide

A wilderness survival guide can help you when you are outdoors and you are faced with different incidents that you may not be ready for. By reading or having a survival guide, you will be able to know what to do when you experience different situations in the wilderness. This may include being faced with dangerous animals, being exposed to plants that might give you allergic reactions or being lost. There are a lot of things that you can learn how to do from a wilderness survival guide.

Here are some of the important subjects that you must remember from a wilderness survival guide:

1. Water. The most basic things that you have to bring with you on your camping trip are food and water. If you run out of water, you will have to know what to do in the wilderness. You can find water from streams or rivers if you run out of water. You just need a water purifier to have safe drinking water. If there is no stream nearby, you can get water by digging into damp soil. If you dig deep enough, water will appear. Wait for the sediment to settle before drinking.
2. Survival kit. Another essential thing you need to have with you in the wilderness is a survival kit. Your survival kit should be waterproof and durable. The essential gear or items that you must have in your survival kit include first aid items, a compass, Swiss knife, hunting gear, knives, hand lens, waterproof matches and fish hooks. You can add more items to your kit that you feel are necessary for your wilderness trip. Also, bring a handy survival guide so that you will be able to review what to do in certain situations.
3. Earthquakes. During an earthquake, remember to keep calm. Look for an area or a clearing where there are not tall trees that can fall on you. Be alert to objects that might fall from trees. By going to a clearing, you will be sure that you will not get hurt because of the falling objects.
4. Building a fire. This is one of the most basic skills in camping. You can make your own fire by gathering stones and forming them into a circle. This keeps the fire from spreading out if there are any flammable items near it. Gather branches, twigs and dry leaves. Put the gathered items in the center of the circle and light it up with a match. Be sure that the fire has enough air so that it will grow bigger.

These are some of the most basic survival tips that you need to know before you go camping in the wilderness. Be sure to bring all the essential items with you but also keep in mind that you have to pack light. Plan for your trip wisely. It is good to create a checklist of the items that you will need for your camping in order for you to not forget anything.
